Isle of Wight County’s “Girls Gone Geek” Program Named an America’s Farmer’s Grow Rural Education Grant Winner

IWCS Girls Gone Geek program has been chosen to receive an America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education grant through Monsanto, which will be used for the Girls Gone Geek Saturday program designed to encourage K-8 girls to explore a variety of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) topics and STEM Professional Development programs for teachers.  Glenn Rountree, representing Monsanto, presented the $10,000 award at the November School Board meeting.  Heather Greer, Coordinator of Science, and the Girls Gone Geek instructors from last year’s program were also on hand to participate in the presentation.
