IWCS School Board Appoints Carrsville Representative

Jackie W. Carr has been appointed by the Isle of Wight County School Board to fill the Carrsville seat left vacant by the December 9, 2016 resignation of Robert Eley.  Carr, a life-long resident of the county, retired from Isle of Wight County Schools in 2015.  During her almost 30 years with the division, she served as a teacher, lead teacher and assistant principal. Carr became principal of Carrsville Elementary School in 2006 before becoming Director of Elementary Schools for IWCS.

The School Board solicited letters of interest from citizens wishing to fill the vacant position.  Three candidates were interviewed by the board during a special called meeting on January 17.  In Carr’s letter, she noted her continued commitment to the school system and her willingness to share her expertise and experience as a board member.

Carr’s first board meeting as the Carrsville district representative will be February 9.
