Employee Benefits
|
Benefits are important to educators and make up a significant portion of the total compensation package for full-time employees.
The Isle of Wight County School Board provides health care, retirement, paid leave and other benefits:
Health Care: Isle of Wight County Schools offers health insurance to all full-time employees on a pre- or post-tax basis. Our package also includes medical, dental and vision benefits. Premiums are paid by IWCS and the employee.
Retirement: Full-time teachers are eligible for participation in the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). The School Board pays 100 percent of the premium. Employees become eligible when a contract or memorandum of understanding is issued. The VRS plan offers 1)full retirement benefits at age 50 with 30 years of service, or age 65 with 5 years of service; 2) early retirement with reduced benefits; 3)disability and death benefits; 4) vesting after 5 years of credited service; 5) group life insurance; and 6) optional life insurance.
Leave: Teachers are entitled to paid Sick Leave and Personal Leave. Annual Leave for vacations and other personal reasons is provided to all 12-month employees on a graduated scale.
Other benefits: Direct deposit is available to all employees who wish to have their payroll checks deposited directly with their bank. The Employee Assistance Program offers free, confidential counseling for all personnel and their families. |
