Smithfield Foods Continues their Support of the SHS JROTC Program

Thanks to the $3M donation from Smithfield Foods toward the SHS Legacy Building and Renovation Project, the groundbreaking for the new SHS JROTC building began this past month!   Cadets are looking forward to the new building as it will offer an indoor Fitness and Drill area and will provide new state of the art classroom furniture.  On top of the $3M they already donated, Smithfield Foods also donated materials and supplies for SHS Cadets to create posters to support our Veterans on Veterans Day.  Cadets created posters by squads and, on November 6th, Smithfield Foods employees judged the 14 posters each squad created.  They named winners and provided prizes to the cadets, including hats, cups, phone chargers and phone accessories.  The overall winner was 1st squad, 1st Platoon, BRAVO Company with their “Home of the Free and Bacon” themed poster. The poster was displayed during Veterans week at the Taste of Smithfield.
