Bus Routes and Stops

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2024-2025

Our Transportation technicians are working diligently to develop efficient and effective bus routes for the upcoming school year.  We hope to have our preliminary route development complete no later than August 26th.  However, it is important to note that bus routes can be modified to accommodate for necessary changes and revisions.  When route adjustments are needed, we remain committed to share those revisions as soon as possible.

For route distribution, IWCS will be implementing a new process for sharing this information with our families.  For security reasons, routes will no longer be posted online.  Moving forward, parents/guardians will be able to access bus route information several ways:
  • By receiving Connect 5 messages (emails) from IWCS
  • By receiving communication directly from the school (Principal's Newsletters, Remind Messages, etc.)
  • By visiting your child's school during Open House events
  • By contacting the Main Office of your child's school
  • By contacting the Transportation Office

Additional questions about bus routes should be directed towards your child's school or to the Transportation Office at (757) 357-9920.
The Transportation Department develops bus routes and stops each year. This information is shared with families and schools approximately one week before school begins.

Whenever possible, bus stops will placed at a street corner. Bus stops are designed to be no more than 2/10 (.2) miles from a student's home, per School Board policy. Parents are encouraged to walk elementary school students to and from the bus stop, and to be at the stop 10 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. All stop times are approximate and can vary based on conditions such as traffic, road conditions, and new stops based on student enrollment changes.
Please note that runs are continually updated through the first month of school.  You should arrive at the stop 10 minutes prior to the listed bus time.

For specific questions about your child's bus stop or route information, contact the individual school or the Transportation Office at 757-357-9920.

In addition, IWCS does not quote drop off times due to the variation based on when the buses leave school. The drop off times will become more consistent after the first week of school.
