PowerSchool Parent Portal Frequently Asked Questions

What is the PowerSchool Parent Portal?

The IWCS PowerSchool Parent Portal offers parents and guardians real-time access to your child's grades and attendance. After accessing the Parent Portal, you can also request information regarding grades and attendance to be sent to your e-mail address on a regular basis. The Parent Portal is an easy to use communications tool that will allow you to take a more active role in your child's education.

Are my child's records available for others to see?

No, a user ID and password are provided to allow access for only authorized users to the appropriate student records. We ask that you keep your user ID and password confidential.

What should I do if I lost my user ID and password information?

If you have already created an account using the new system (beginning September, 2015), you can click on the "I forgot my password" or "I forgot my username" links on the Parent Portal login page.  If you have not created an account since the new system launched in September 2015, you will need to contact your child's school to obtain the information. To protect your student's information, it is our policy that no username or passwords are given over the phone.

How often can we expect information to be updated on the Parent Portal?

Attendance is reported daily. Unexcused absences will be updated when the office staff has received the appropriate notice for the absence. Teachers will update grades on a regular basis, however certain factors may influence when certain grades appear. Essays and research papers may take longer to grade than a quiz or homework assignment. We urge parents and guardians to be patient as teachers do their best to return assignments and post grades as promptly as their schedule allows.

Will I be able to see all my child's grades?

The PowerSchool Parent Portal will provide you access to information on classes offered within Isle of Wight County Schools nine schools. Students enrolled at the UpLift Academy, either Governor's Schools, or SECEP will not have grades available through PowerSchool for those classes.
