IWCS Budget

The development of the 2026-2027 Budget is underway. The proposed Budget Calendar is available below, along with upcoming meetings.

The School Board of Isle of Wight County held a Special Called Meeting on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. in the Westside Elementary School Auditorium, 800 W. Main St., Smithfield, VA 23430. The Board heard the Superintendent's presentation on the proposed budget for the 2026-2027 school year, and held a work session regarding the budget. The presentation and work session was streamed live on the IWCS Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The School Board of Isle of Wight County held a Public Hearing on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. in the Westside Elementary School Auditorium, 800 W. Main St., Smithfield, VA 23430. The Public Hearing was on the Superintendent's proposed budget for 2026-2027 school year. After the Public Hearing, the board conducted a work session on the proposed budget.

At the School Board's March 12, 2026 meeting, the board passed the proposed budget.

The School Board will hold a special-called join meeting with the Board of Supervisors on Thursday, March 26, 2026, beginning at 6:00pm in the School Administration Office, 9307 Old Stage Hwy., Smithfield, VA 23430. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the proposed 2026-2027 School Budget.

The Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the county budget, including the school budget, before finalizing the 2026-2027 budget.

Budget Development

Key dates associated with approval of the school division's budget for the 2025-2026 school year include:

Monday, February 24, 2025: a special called meeting to receive and discuss the Superintendent's budget proposals.
Thursday, February 27, 2025: a special called meeting to further discuss the Superintendent’s budget recommendations.
Thursday, March 6, 2025: a public hearing and school board work session on the 2025-2026 School Operating Budget.
Tuesday, March 18, 2025: a special called meeting for a budget work session and to possibly approve the School Board's Proposed Budget.
May, 2025 (TBD): School Board approval of amended budget (if necessary)

The Board of Supervisors held meetings to discuss the FY 2025-26 county budget that includes funding for the school division.

March 27: Joint meeting between the Board of Supervisors and School Board (Tentative)
April 3: Isle of Wight County Administrator presents his proposed county budget to the Board of Supervisors
April 17: The Board of Supervisors will hold a Public Hearing on the proposed county budget
May (TBD): The Board of Supervisors approve the FY26 school budget
