Out of Zone Placement
Parents who reside outside the Isle of Wight County Schools attendance zone and wish to request admission for their child(ren) must complete the Annual Application for Non-Resident Students (Form JEC-E). Applications will be accepted beginning June 1 and must be submitted no later than July 31. This application window allows the division to effectively plan for staffing, transportation, and class placements. Families are encouraged to plan accordingly to ensure consideration. The only exception to this timeline is for children of newly hired IWCS employees.
Parents who reside in Isle of Wight County and wish to request a school assignment outside of their designated attendance zone must complete the Annual Zone Transfer Request Form. Requests will be accepted beginning June 1 and must be submitted no later than July 31. Each request must include the student’s name, grade level, zoned school, requested school, and parent/guardian contact information. Families should also provide any extenuating circumstances that support the need for the transfer. Forms are available for parents requesting out of zone for elementary students due to childcare providers located outside of the assigned school zone. The only exception to this timeline is for children of newly hired IWCS employees.
