School Calendar
UPDATE: Due to school closings on January 26, January 27, and February 2, ALL high school exams are moved to February 3. The end of 1st semester/2nd quarter is February 3. The beginning of 2nd semester/3rd quarter is February 4.
IWCS has created a draft calendar for the 2026-2027 school year and is seeking input from employees, parents, students, and the community on the proposal through a calendar survey.
The proposed calendar exceeds the minimum number of instructional hours (990) required by the state and supports additional professional learning opportunities for staff. It also includes dedicated parent conference days for ALL schools, not just elementary. The recommendations align with objectives and strategies in the IWCS Strategic Plan.
IWCS has created an accompanying document that explains why certain student holidays, professional learning days, and schedule adjustments are included in the proposed 2026–2027 school calendar.

A final draft calendar will be shared with the School Board at their February 12, 2026, meeting. The board will vote to approve a calendar at their March 12, 2026, meeting. Please note: the final calendar proposal may or may not be identical to the draft shared through the survey.
