Training Opportunity: Critical Decision Points for Families of Children with Disabilities

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), through grant funding provided by the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities (VBPD) and assistance provided by the Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC) at James Madison University has developed five web-based training modules for parents, school professionals, and other community stakeholders that work with families whom have a child with a disability.

VSBA Conference on Education Brings Together Educational Leaders From Across Virginia

irginia school board members, educators, governing officials, attorneys, and legislators attended the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) 34th annual Conference on Education in Richmond, VA on July 23, 2019. Isle of Wight County Schools was represented by School Board members Victoria Hulick (Newport), Jackie Carr (Carrsville), Kirstin Cook (Smithfield), Julia Perkins (Windsor), as well as Division Superintendent, Dr. Jim Thornton. The purpose of the conference was to offer participants the opportunity to learn about successful educational practices occurring throughout the state.

Joint Board Meeting Scheduled
