Child Find Screenings

In an attempt to actively identify, locate and evaluate children 2 through 21, who are in need of special education services and/or protection under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Isle of Wight County Schools will be holding Child Find Screenings on the dates listed below.
November 26, 2018: 12:00pm - 3:00pm, Carrollton Elementary
November 29, 2018: 9:00am - 12:00pm, Windsor Elementary School

IWCS Partners with Obici Healthcare Foundation on Early Childhood Education Initiative

The Obici Healthcare Foundation announced at its Symposium on October 31, 2018, a commitment to improving the quality of young children’s preschool experiences. The goal of the new early childhood educational initiative is a partnership between the Obici Healthcare Foundation and the University of Virginia for young children in local school divisions in Western Tidewater, including Isle of Wight County Schools

First Newborn Goats at the IWCS Land Lab

Students in the Isle of Wight County School's Agriculture program had a surprise when they arrived to class at the Land Lab on Wednesday morning. Five baby goats were born during the night, making them the first newborn goats at the facility. Babies and both Mothers are doing well and receiving lots of attention from the students. The three males and two females have all received names selected by the class: Hunter, Moonlight, King, Pearl and Pumpkin.

VDOE Presents “Critical Decision Point” Training for Parents of Students with Disabilities

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is offering training to parents of students with disabilities on critical decision points that can affect a child’s ability to earn a diploma and be ready for higher education or a career. Student Run Credit Unions Open at IWCS Elementary Schools

Through a partnership with BayPort Credit Union, elementary students in Isle of Wight County Schools are learning first-hand about finance and banking. Once a month, a representative from the credit union visits the schools and helps the students open accounts and manage deposits. The accounts earn dividends and qualify students for BayPort’s Youth Reward$ Program. The first “Savings Day” kicked off this month at Carrollton Elementary, Westside Elementary, and Hardy Elementary.
