FFA Chapter Donates to Local Non-Profit

Students in the Walter S. Newman FFA Chapter with Isle of Wight County Schools presented a $2,000 check to the Isle of Wight Christian Outreach Program (COP) on Friday, December 17 at the division's Land Lab.  Students raised the funds through the sale of 200 quarts of Brunswick Stew prepared by the chapter.  Rick Rowland, Executive Director of COP, accepted the donation, which will be used to purchase fresh food for the organization’s food pantry program.  The FFA sponsors are Agriculture teacher Jason Brittle and Farm Manager Daniel Judkins. Others on hand for the presentation included Bryan Thrift, Smithfield High Principal, Laura Sullivan, Windsor High Principal, and Dr. Marsha Cale, Director of Curriculum and Professional Learning.
