Governor Northam Announces Schools to Remain Closed for the Remainder of the School Year

By now you may have heard the Governor’s announcement today that schools will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. We are working with the Virginia Department of Education to determine how to address this change and will be providing our families with additional information as soon as that guidance is available. The Superintendent will be briefed on Tuesday at 2:00 pm and we will provide more information by Wednesday evening, March 25.

2020-2021 Special Education Annual Plan Available for Review

Each local educational agency (LEA) including school divisions, state-operated programs and the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind at Staunton, is required by state and federal law to submit an annual plan to VDOE for providing special education services to identified children with disabilities residing within the jurisdiction and demonstrate their funding eligibility.

Attached you will find Isle of Wight County Schools’ annual plan on display for public review from March 23, 2020 to April 3, 2020.

IWCS Announces Plan for Continuity of Instruction

Students in grades Pk-8 will receive instructional packets, aimed at engaging students in learning Students in grades 9-12 will receive online instruction via Google Classroom.

Instructional packets will be available through self-service pick up in bins, labeled by grade level and subject, at the front door of each elementary and middle school on Tuesday, March 17 and Wednesday, March 18, from 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. at each school.
