IWCS Closed Tuesday, December 9, for All Students & Staff

Isle of Wight County Schools has been closely monitoring the continuing winter storm affecting our area. Forecasts from the National Weather Service indicate that snow will continue to accumulate over the next several hours, with totals ranging from 2 to 5 inches across the county. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing until midday Tuesday, creating the likelihood of treacherous road conditions on neighborhood streets, rural backroads, and major routes.

Out of an abundance of caution, Isle of Wight County Schools will be closed on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, for all students and staff. All after-school and evening activities scheduled for Tuesday are also canceled.

The combination of accumulating snowfall, below-freezing temperatures, and hazardous travel conditions makes it unsafe for school buses, staff vehicles, and families to be on the roads. By making this decision tonight, we hope to give families and employees as much time as possible to prepare for the continued weather impacts.

Our commitment to the safety and well-being of the IWCS community guides every weather-related decision we make. We understand that schedule changes can create challenges for families and staff, and we are grateful for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we work to keep everyone safe.
