IWCS Celebrates Rookie Teachers of the Year

Celebrating Our Rookie Teachers of the Year!

Every great educator starts somewhere—and these outstanding new teachers are already making an incredible impact in Isle of Wight County Schools.

Our Rookie Teacher of the Year program recognizes exceptional educators in their first three years in the classroom who are already demonstrating excellence in teaching, commitment to student success, and dedication to professional growth.

These educators were selected by their school leadership teams for their ability to:
-Engage and support all students
-Create positive and effective learning environments
-Design meaningful learning experiences
-Pursue continuous professional growth

Please join us in congratulating our 2025–2026 Rookie Teachers of the Year:

  • Taylor Darden — Windsor Elementary
  • Lillemor Eng — Hardy Elementary
  • Charbria McDonald — Westside Elementary
  • Armond Griebe — Georgie D. Tyler Middle School
