Isle of Wight County Schools (IWCS) recognizes a support staff member each quarter who has gone Above and Beyond the Call of Duty (ABCD). At the March School Board meeting, the division recognized Laurie Lipford, a Vision and Hearing Instructional Assistant, as the third-quarter honoree. Her nomination highlighted how her compassion and commitment to student success make her an invaluable part of the Smithfield Middle School community. Whether supporting students, collaborating with staff, or volunteering her time, she consistently goes above and beyond for IWCS. As part of her award, Lipford received a $50 Visa gift card from the Woman's Club of Smithfield, and a personalized plaque created in the Smithfield High School Maker Space.
