Isle of Wight County Schools is moving forward with plans to build a replacement school for Westside Elementary following the $6 million acquisition of approximately 14 acres of land at 14544 Benns Church Boulevard in Carrollton.
This important step was made possible through a strong partnership between the Isle of Wight County School Board, the Isle of Wight County Board of Supervisors, and county and division leadership.
The future school site was selected for its location near areas of residential growth, accessibility for transportation, and ability to support efficient bus routes. The replacement school will help serve current students, support future growth in the northern part of the county, and create opportunities to ease capacity at nearby schools, including Carrollton Elementary.
“This has truly been a team effort,” said IWCS Superintendent Dr. Theo Cramer. “We are grateful for the partnership with the Board of Supervisors and county staff in helping us take this important step toward providing an updated facility that meets the needs of our students and families.”
As the project moves forward, IWCS will continue working with engineers, architects, and county officials to complete the next steps in the process. We look forward to sharing updates with our community along the way.
