The Isle of Wight County Facilities, Construction, and Maintenance Department is responsible for the upkeep of the physical assets of the division and is committed to providing clean, safe, and inviting facilities where students can learn and staff members can work comfortably.
The Facilities, Construction, and Maintenance Department includes the following operational components: Maintenance (repairs and preventive maintenance), Plant Operations (Grounds Maintenance), and Emergency Management.
Isle of Wight County Schools plans to contract with a company to conduct a study to determine student population growth and impact on facilities. The study will use a housing and land saturation model as opposed to a cohort survival method. A recent study did not consider housing growth in the county; therefore IWCS will not be referencing this study during the planning process for future facility needs.
