Student Run Credit Unions Open at IWCS Elementary Schools

Through a partnership with BayPort Credit Union, elementary students in Isle of Wight County Schools are learning first-hand about finance and banking. Once a month, a representative from the credit union visits the schools and helps the students open accounts and manage deposits. The accounts earn dividends and qualify students for BayPort’s Youth Reward$ Program. The first “Savings Day” kicked off this month at Carrollton Elementary, Westside Elementary, and Hardy Elementary.

Isle of Wight County Schools Operating on a 2 Hour Delay Friday; No Early Dismissal for Carrsville and Windsor Elementary

Due to the potential for hazardous weather conditions, Isle of Wight County Schools will be operating on a two hour delay tomorrow, Friday, October 12, for all students and staff. Carrsville Elementary and Windsor Elementary will now dismiss at their regular time. Any further updates regarding tomorrow’s schedule will be shared using the Connect 5 alert system.
Information will also be posted on the division’s website and social media accounts, and forwarded to the local newspapers and television stations.

Windsor Elementary School and the IWCS Land Lab Partner to Celebrate Farm to School Week

Windsor Elementary students celebrated Farm to School week with a visit to the division’s Land Lab, located just outside their back door. The young visitors learned about growing crops and taking care of the farm's livestock, which includes chickens, rabbits and goats. The highlight was when the agriculture students from Windsor and Smithfield high schools brought the animals out to meet the classes face to face.
