Middle School - Career and Technical Education
Introduction to Technology (982601)
Students use the engineering design process to guide them through various hands-on activities and projects, utilizing safe use of tools, materials, and techniques to solve problems. Students explore their relationship to technology and engineering, and how technology affects the world around them, as well as careers in the fields of technology and engineering. This class sets the foundation for high school Computer Science and Marketing CTE classes.
Inventions and Innovations (461003)
Students will apply the design process to solve problems and understand the influence of creativity and innovation in their lives from the lens of the movie industry. Students will work in teams to explore how various forms of technology have been used to solve issues in the movie industry and how it affects students’ daily lives. In their exploration they will be exposed to the skills behind manufacturing, robotics, green screen, animation and drones. Oral presentations will give the students opportunities to present their data, their analyses, and their conclusions.
Technological Systems (982602)
Recommended prerequisite: Inventions and Innovations
Students combine resources and techniques to create systems and develop an understanding of how technological systems work. Students will use the design process to gain insight into how to approach the problems and opportunities of a technological world while exploring technology-oriented careers.
